Lets put the above into perspective and use sleep as the example .

Sleep = Dollar’s
Afternoon Coffee + Pre-workouts = Dime’s

It’s humpday you hit that slump between 3-4pm, but you’ve got plans of smashing that PB you’ve been chasing , but you feel a little off, you need that kick to get your head into the right space so you can nail it.

An espresso and a double scoop of pre later , and you are starting to see sounds,

Ready to rock , and pick up the world…..

You nail it, get a pat on the ass from your training partner , post it to insta and get a couple of virtual high fives…..

its now 3am and you are still refreshing your newsfeed as you just cant seem to drift off ,

I wonder why my double scooping friend 🤷‍♂️

4am comes , still awake, still thinking of that PB , still scrolling, STILL NOT SLEEPING !!

6am comes around along with your alarm, but you are only after getting to sleep, you smash the alarm with anger, stumble down the hall load up the Nespresso and off we go on the caffeine highway again , yeehaw !!

More crabby, more irritable, less adherent, more volatile , higher cravings, you get the idea, an all round shit time.

Now lets say you took the sensible approach, rewind back to the 3-4 pm slump, skipped the caffeine , pulled the load back and had a solid session regardless, and put some numbers in the long book, prioritised sleep, had a solid night in the scratcher, woke fresh the next day, felt good, and nailed a pb each evening for the week there after, along with your food , and feeling damn good.

So the next time you go to reach for a dime, stop and pick up the dollar

Sleep will have the most profound effect on your health, wellness , and overall wellbeing , far more than any cup of java .
