As I write this I am now “finished” up working on a 1-1 basis with Lar and on my way to the sun for a well deserved break from work & life in general. One of the things I have been most impressed by Lar is his genuine care for the health of his clients and his no BS approach. I am a far more educated, aware and confident person than I was even 10 months ago. I can’t thank Lar enough for his alignment with my goals (these non sexy wins are often something which get kicked to the curb when people think about working with a “PT” or a “Coach”).
Of course as a by product I am looking the leanest and fittest I have ever looked which is a “nice to have”. We’re down 10+ kg from March 2019 and I haven’t been this light (73.5kg) since I was 10 or 11 years old! Considering I’ve completely changed my lifestyle and body composition this is also a huge win for me.
As I move forward I now better understand how my body functions, what my stress triggers are, why/when to train, how important rest is for me to be at my best, and how vital it is to make time to switch off from the world. When I decided to take the leap into competition last January I was initially scared but Larry made my first prep the most enjoyable and worthwhile experience I’ve ever had. Just from learning about foods rather than being told don’t eat certain foods I’ve lost a huge 9kg in 10 weeks but push the weight loss to one side my over all health is vastly improving, sleeping better and I have much more energy. Driving for a living I was only doing 2-4k steps a day I now hit 10 -14k a day not because I have to but because I want too.
If any one is on the side line it will be the best decision you will make,Larry and Kate give you the tools and allow you to progress at your own pace,no pressure just help.
For me my over all experience so far has been great. I love the fact if I ask a question it doesn’t just get answered your self and Kate go in to great detail with everything. I’m excited to go to the gym – before the programme my workouts were so monotonous, now with the workouts switching every 4 weeks it keeps it interesting and definitely challenging I now realise that weight loss isn’t simply diet and exercise alone – I’ve learned to factor in stress, sleep and recovery.

I started at 110kg, now I’m 22 kgs down over 6 months
Larry replied to my initial message within an hour and we began conversing and Larry decided that the Affiliate is the best way forward for me. Larry gave me the tools and motivation to do the work for myself and stayed in contact with me each week for a general check in ,ensuring that I am on track and confident with the work I am doing.
I found this programme so ideal as each workout is 40minutes to an hour long when following Larry’s tempos and rest time so there is no excuse anymore for me to say “I don’t have time”.
I am currently 6 months with Affiliate and I now weigh 88kg. The physical difference is great I’m lighter, stronger, fitter and faster but mentally I feel I’ve achieved much more. I am much happier,confident and now love looking at myself in the mirror and actually feeling happy with how I look. Since starting the Affiliate I have become far more efficient in the gym
I’m 6 kgs down but most importantly for me is that after 36 years I have built a healthy relationship with food.
I had been following plans for the majority of time for over 5 year so I decided to join the Affiliate. From day 1 with there was no restrictions. I learned in small steps over weeks and months all about myself, learning to prioritise sleep, stress levels, my caffeine, movement and most importantly for me is that after 36 years I have built a healthy relationship with food. My relationship with my body and food had gone to the dogs. From working with Larry I can positively say that has done a complete 180 and I’m the healthiest and happiest I have been in years. Larry’s no bull* approach to the fitness journey is amazing. No restrictions , no guilt tripping, just helpful , patient and real.
Roughly I’m down 20lbs along with inches all over (8.5 on my waist alone). The reason I say “roughly” is because I’ve stopped being scale obsessed which is amazing for me. As someone who has had an obsessive relationship with those bathroom scales for years this is huge. If I feel bloated or crappy I refuse to step on the scales , I purely go off how I feel in myself. By stepping on the scales when I feel crap and seeing I’m up a pound or two (probably from the big meal I ate the night before) I would instantly self sabotage and through it all in the bin. But now I no longer do that which is why this has been the steadiest health journey I’ve ever gone on.
Larry places an emphasis on being comfortable with the fact life happens , an ice cream on a sunny day or a meal out with friends isn’t going to instantly make you put back all the weight you have lost, and teaches you how to plan for this things and most importantly to enjoy yourself, which I love!
I can’t thank Larry enough for helping me get to where I am now. 100% it was me who got up each day meal prepped and went to the gym , but without him my attitude to everything would be crap. Aside from the weight I have lost, the biggest wins for me are that my self confidence is up , my happiness is huge & my mental health is the best it has been in a long time. No more emotional eating or guilt attached to food
To date I’m down 13kg and my outlook on training and diet has completely changed, for the better!
Reached a point where I’m pretty ready for lean bulk,couldn’t be happier with the progress pics from the start to now. It’s so good to see the hard work that’s been put in has paid off in this first phase. Feel so much better in myself, sleeping better, less stress, eating soooo much better and my relationship with food is night and day from what it was the past few years.
I’ve also learned to REST, before the Affiliate I was training as much as I could sometimes 7 day’s a week but just wasn’t getting results, now I take my rest days and enjoy my down time just as much as training!

I have seen huge results both mentally and physically. Eventhough I’m in a gaining phase I can see results with lifting heavier. Also just been able to see each lift improve and adding on more weights every week!

Larry & I set the goal to fat loss & got to work. There was no massive calorie restrictions, no unrealistic exercise goals and most importantly no bull. As I was coaching classes on zoom my main resistance training was my 3 sessions a week, I had started running last year in lockdown and kept with it so I set a goal of 2 runs a week and to hit my steps goal of 10k a day. There was nothing sexy about it but if there is one thing I’ve learned from Larry above all is he has taught me the power of consistency! Ticking boxes day in day out and letting the weight look after itself.
After about 2 months in I got an offer to get some professional progress shots done at the beginning of June so after a chat with Larry I decided to go for it and we set our sites on getting in the best shape of my life and did we ever! I finished my 5 months having gone from 199lbs in jan to 173.2lbs and 12.1% body fat and while that’s amazing and I’m so proud the most important part I think is that from the start of Jan to 4th June when I got my pictures taken there is 24 weeks and in total I dropped 25.8lbs . In other words to get in the shape in my life I just had to consistently lose just over 1lb or 0.5kg a week, no massive drops or fads just long term sustainable fat loss where while I may not have always been able to eat everything I wanted there was nothing I couldn’t or didn’t eat. I had ice cream, I had cake, I had alcohol and yes bread! I couldn’t be more delighted with my results and more thankful to having the foresight to not hit the fuck it button and to stick with Larry, control the controllables and get shit done regardless of whether a room with 4 walls and weights was open or not. Thanks to Larry for making the process easier than I could have imagined.
Larry’s knowledge and experience are why I chose him as a coach. He has walked the walk as well as talked the talk over the last number of years.
However, after the birth of my daughter I found it extremely difficult to get motivated with lack of sleep, trying to juggle everything. When I finally decided to pull myself out of a rut that had lasted 5 months I made the choice that, for the first time in my life, I was going to get a coach to help me get my mojo back for training.

Dieting for a photoshoot this year during lockdown was no easy task as I was transitioning to online coaching and also homeschooling. However, when Larry said we’ll have you ready I trusted that statement 100%!! We laid a solid foundation before starting so that I was in the best possible position starting the prep. Of course there were wobblers along the way and there were weeks where I had my doubts but with one sentence or question he had the ability to change my entire mindset to set me up for a more successful week. On the other hand getting calories in and being consistent was my weakness.
I contacted Larry in May of this strange year, and 31 weeks on we are still working together, gaining knowledge and insight, into what can now be described as a whole new appreciation for food, nutrition and lifestyle for me.
His clear approach is what I admired the most along with the continuous learning as we progressed.
We had weekly check in calls and frequent texts, and despite never meeting Larry and been over 7,000km apart it really has had no impact on the quality of the coaching.
The process without doubt takes discipline, and personally having a busy schedule – a full time job, husband, a fitness coach, GAA football player and chairman, along with frequent running and cycling sessions in the mix, I really appreciated all the knowledge Larry had to offer to balance my busy lifestyle, all the while making significant progress with my lean gain.
The journey so far has been superb and being accountable to an external source has been exactly what I needed to be consistent. This was what made my targets and goals become possible.
Over 4 months I lost 30lbs, my energy levels went up, my quality of life and outlook vastly improved. I feel a lot more like my old self!
I reached out to him at the end of July 2019 – just back from a family holiday. I have 2 young (active) kids (3&7), work as a Project Manager for a large IT / Pharma company and travel quite a bit (from time to time). I have always been very active and lifted in the gym 3-4 times a week. Generally would eat well (generally) but the last 6-12 months, no real structure in terms of training or food. I also for the first time in my life didn’t have the energy I once had. With turning 40 in Feb 2020 – I decided to use this as a ‘kick in the @rse’ to myself to get myself back on track.
The affiliate makes things easy. They (Larry & Kate) give you the support to start your journey but also to maintain. It is easy information to absorb, little by little – never over complicated. I really enjoy the conditioning that is part of the plan. Now, I prioritize my 4 sessions per wk and I do meal prep again (btw no food plans are given, just high level macro breakdown, so YOU eat foods YOU enjoy – make it work for you). The guy’s also share tonnes of food ideas on a daily basis. Nothing is off the table, it is up to you to mange how & what you eat.
The next stage for myself is to go into an ‘improvement cycle’ which will also see me eating a LOT more food ……I cannot wait for this!!

I’ve just finished my first 12 weeks with Larry, dropping 11kgs and to say I’m happy with the progress would be a massive understatement!
As a personal trainer, gen pop think we’re invincible & always in good shape. I was going through some very stressful times in work & I was looking after everyone and everything but myself . Business came first and my own health, mind & body was put on hold. I quickly packed on the body fat, stopped training & was eating thousands of calories per day, the worst rut I’ve ever been in.
From the get go with Larry I felt so relieved & reassured that I had guidance for once. The monthly programs are just great too. Receiving a new fresh program each month keeps me motivated and interested. I feel like I’ve only started to properly lift weights the past few months. Lifting with correct form and tempo and engaging those muscles.
The past 6 months have been such a learning curve for me. Im loving the lifting and eating but I’ve also really started to focus on managing stress and sleep quality. Rather than spending my weekends in the gym, I get out and spend some quality time with my family. We go for a hike every Sunday and we are loving it.

For the first couple of months I wanted to get a healthier relationship with food and training, having come from a very difficult place with self perception and a poor relationship with food. Now after 3 months on the Affiliate my mindset is in a great place.
I can weigh myself and it doesn’t bother me its just a number not my value as a person.
To say I’m happy with my results is an understatement… a huge 20kg off in 8 months!!

I knew it would be hard running 2 business’s and having a new born child to boot but was willing to do what it took under Larry’s guidance and motivation to get me through the hardest days when I did not feel like getting up early for cardio or when lacking in energy to hit the gym hard.
His training programs are all designed around each individual progressing week to week and seeing massive change physically to drive you on to do better each and every week in and out of the gym.
Nutrition was pretty much plain sailing not having to go too low calories at all over the 16 weeks which was great to keep me full and still keeping some of my favourite foods in to make the whole process much easier to handle while getting leaner each week too.

I needed a solid coach on my side to keep me on the straight and narrow and I knew Larry would be able to step up to that role. Already having a good idea of what I was doing, he decided after the initial consultation, that I would be better off continuing to do my own thing for a few more months before taking him on as a coach. Immediately this built my trust in Larry as I didn’t feel like I was being sold or pressured into something that I didn’t yet need. When the time came I reached back out to Larry and we got to work on finalising my prep for my photoshoot.
Every week was generally a cruise and Larry altered things as needed . We communicated well throughout and used both our knowledge to help me get to the condition I got to.
But, in the final few weeks, I followed all advice and guidance. It was such a relief not having to think for myself and listen and follow Larry’s experience. I followed the plan and with Larry’s trained eye we landed the plane and executed my goal of being in the shape of my life. I’ll have these photos and experience of getting this lean for the rest of my life to look back on.

As a coach I hold people accountable so I knew I needed some accountability for myself so I contacted Larry and Kate from Larry Doyle coaching and joined his affiliate. With their guidance we set up our nutrition and training and I put my head down and got to work, for me having to check in with Larry and Kate was brilliant the accountability was needed, we made some tweaks here and there if needed as we went.
I was always fit and athletic (even though I might not look it in pic1)Larry and kates help I took training and nutrition to next level.
Its no one size fits all coaching, it’s no chicken and broccoli bullshit (I do like it sometimes) it’s no silly calorie deficits that aren’t substantiable, it’s education to make informed decisions and its lifestyle sustainable.
In my opinion as a coach you will find it very hard to find two other people in this industry with an amazing approach and guidance and support and knowledge than Larry and Kate.

My confidence and strength is in the best place they have ever been.
I think if Larry told me I’d be gaining 8 kilos and eating 3000 cals daily I would of ran a mile But here we are, confidence and strenght in the best place they have ever been. But its not just a matter of eating more, and that’s where I found the guidance fantastic. Digestion, rest, sleep, training with progressive overload always in mind, I could talk for days here. Its been far from an easy ride but its been worth it.
Something I’m so passionate about myself is removing the fear of these phases away from females, the extra food, getting comfortable not been comfortable and stepping outside that safety net. Hoping these pictures can show and inspire others to do the same and remind people that constant dieting is not how you build strenght, “tone up”, build glutes and overall muscle mass. Weight will go on, fat will go on, the food must be ate, thats all part of it.
Excited now to strip things back with a dieting phase over the next few weeks and see exactly what we have done. And I can confirm I am 100% in a far better place since starting this journey, thank you Larry.

1. Reducing my overall training load – I’ve gone from feeling like I need to go to work out 5-6 times a week (each time doing a session with some form of high intensity work), to doing 4 solid, tough sessions a week.
2. Feeling comfortable in the weights room of a gym because I have a kick-ass programme that is easy to understand, follow and ensure I’m working hard.
3. Facebook group and getting more insight into recovery and the benefit of getting out into nature and just enjoying life outside the gym while still making good choices.

As well as increasing strength and muscle through Larry’s workout programs I also shaved 2 minutes off my 5km PB.
Through Larry’s macro calculator I realised that previously I was massively undereating carbs and thus was always tired and in turn my workouts were suffering, as well as having a tendency to fall off my plan on the weekends. By upping my daily carb intake both my sleep and energy improved and therefore positively impacted my training. As well as increasing strength and muscle through Larry’s workout programs I also shaved 2 minutes off my 5km PB.
On average my bodyweight stayed the same throughout the 5 months but my body composition changed significantly through increased muscle and reduced fat loss, particularly off my stomach which I always found difficult to reduce.
Larry’s plan showed me that steady and sustainable is a far more effective approach than extreme aggressive quick fix plans.
In the past I’ve struggled to increase calories without falling off plan (one bad day often leading to a bad week), in particular over the summer months when there is so much going on most weekends. By having the flexible structure of the macro goals I stuck with the plan throughout the 5 months while still enjoying myself. I had the freedom to eat and drink what I wanted at various occasions by focusing on the weekly average rather than daily, and tailoring my diet beforehand to balance for these days.

The recipe ideas are fantastic and there’s loads to learn in the Macro Management course! Can’t recommend it enough and looking forward to pushing on with my next phase.

Down 50lbs and we’re not done yet…
Larry’s relationship with me and his other clients is second to none. He readily makes himself available through his Facebook group and through DMs and Emails. His feedback is super in depth and knowledgeable and not once have I ever felt like I was taking up any of his time, it felt like every time I spoke with him he was delighted to give me his time, every time. And that feeling is something that you can’t put a price on!
Life is long and it’s meant to be lived. There will be pints here, a cake there, a pizza here, and a city break in-between it all where the last thing you think about is your macros. I was around 125kg and am now currently sitting at around 102-ish-kg in the span of the nearly 2 years, and I can say with full confidence that I won’t see numbers that high, or feel the way I once felt again thanks to the lifestyle changes which were achieved through the help and guidance I’ve received from Larry.
A number on a scale is very minor however, and the improvements within my overall health have improved ten fold in the past 2 years. Six months after working with Larry & I’m at 9.5% body fat, energy levels through the roof, mental clarity is sharp as a knife and feeling super.
I wanted a tangible goal and date, so I set myself the challenge of committing to a photoshoot in December 2021.
I knew that if I was going to achieve such a goal I would need the help of a coach. Larry’s approach to achieving high level fitness while also optimising general health was what appealed to me.
I can safely say that 5 years on, and at the age of 34, I have achieved the best physical fitness of my life all thanks to Larry’s help and guidance. When I started his coaching, I was at 18% body fat, energy levels were ok, mental clarity was ok, sleep was average, morning alertness was mostly groggy.

Larry has helped bring the spark back into my life as I now have the confidence in my own body to be the best version of myself.
Larry’s coaching had come recommended by a friend who had used his programme before and had said that he was not like any other online coaches. I was a little apprehensive that I was going down the same 1-1 coaching root as before but I couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Larry’s initial screening form was extremely in-depth, literally he wanted to know everything about my lifestyle, training routine, sleep and digestion – I knew from that point I was on to a winner. He wanted to know my long term goals, my aspirations working with him and from the outset I knew this time it wasn’t to lose weight it was to change my relationship with food and to fuel my performance in both Boxing and CrossFit.
As the months ticked on my weight continued to creep down, my body shape was changing and my fitness was increasingly improving. I felt great! I feel absolutely great and I am extremely excited to move to the Affiliate. I have lost 6 kilos, 15 inches all over and all the while gaining muscle – my body is in the best shape it’s ever been and my training has never been better. I am fuelling my body correctly to move faster and lift heavier in workouts, I am continuously getting new PB’s or small wins in weaknesses and the best of all is, there is not one day that I feel I have been hard done by, by following a ‘diet’. In a short period of 3 weeks I have lost 10 & 1/2 lbs. That might seem like a-lot or noting to some but to me it has changed my whole mindset, given me focus and now I’m determined to get to my goal with the help and support of Larry Kate and the Affiliate community

I’ve adopted practises from your facebook posts which have really helped. The biggest factor is leaving my phone in the kitchen at night which I thought I’d never be able to do. I can’t stress enough the difference this has made, I previously would have stayed up past midnight scrolling instagram or stuck in a conversation, and when the alarm would go off I’d “wake myself up” scrolling lose 20 minutes, then would start the day off in the rush and the entire day would be affected. I’ve pushed myself to lift heavier and have hit PBs on squats, bench press and trap-bar deadlift. I’ve been stricter on sticking to my macros / calories which I’m not finding too difficult as I’ve completely stopped tracking vegetables and am loading up on them (taking inspiration from you and Kate’s instagram). I’m not as stressed out about trying to fit in the gym most days of the week as the plan is only 4 days and in turn feel better. The decrease in stress and having time to do other things I previously couldn’t has been a major positive.”
It feels really good to look in the mirror and like what I see, it’s even better to feel as good as I do on the inside, that’s where the real transformation has happened.
March 2022 was when I got to the point where I thought…if I do nothing, nothing will change. I was solo parenting two kids, working a full time demanding job, had kids activities five times a week, add on everything at home and life admin…you get the picture…none of those things have changed…they’re all still my reality…but at the same time so, so much has changed!!
I came off our initial call excited…so excited to get started…all I could think of were the possibilities! I can honestly say I underestimated how transformative it would be.
I made a commitment to myself and I put in the work…but at the same time, it hasn’t felt like work. The one thing about Larry’s approach that’s made it all work so well for me I think is that it’s been built around my life so it’s something I can maintain now and into the future… and believe me when I tell you…I’ve tested it! Life has happened…nights out, PMS…more PMS, work trips, being unwell, making it to the gym three times some weeks and other weeks just the once!
All that being said I was surprised with how easy it’s been to get to this point, I can genuinely say I’ve really enjoyed the process – watching my shape change and taking in all the knowledge Larry’s shared along the way.

This has been huge for me to stay motivated and accountable. 3. Mixing it up with the foods. Its very tempting to get “samie” when dieting but again the insta gives me daily ideas.

This has been reinforced by an increase in my energy and performance both in and outside the gym! As a female, it can be intimidating to think about building muscle and eating more and it was for me in the beginning. However, feeling stronger, more energetic and all round brighter physically and mentally outweighed my fears and has become the most liberating feeling.
Building muscle and strength in my lower body has been the biggest challenge for me, reinforced with not properly fuelling my body for my workouts. I watched every fitness YouTube video under the sun and started way too many fitness plans and didn’t finish one of them! I was at a period in my life where I was able to dedicate a lot of time to something so I decided I wanted to better myself and my body composition.

I feel I’m more accountable in my food choices but I don’t feel the pressure if I eat a bar of chocolate I’ve failed. Been with a coach in the past that included a strict meal plan and weekly check ins I had a guilt associated with food if I ate off the plan. Now, I make the best choices I can everyday and if I want some apple tart in my nanny’s house I’ll have it!! I’m only accountable to myself and I really feel its made a big difference in my attitude towards food.

Coming from a powerlifting background my training changed and I loved it, a tailored programme to suit me and my needs. Larry shared his expert tips and advice made it life long coaching instead of short quick fixes like I see with many ‘PT’s’ .
Especially with nutrition he has taught me its not a diet, its a lifestyle and how to include everything into my eating so I didn’t end up binging. I have never ate as much especially CARBS haha!

18kg down – Joining the affiliate programme was one of the best decisions of my life.
First thing that drew me towards Larry was his straight shooting, he always told it how it was but not in an ignorant way but more of an informative way. On joining the affiliate he send you a few weeks of different information and videos you need to watch and within all this it literally tells you everything you need to know. Within this you get your recommend calories. From here he sends a new workout plan every month in which he changes it up which keeps things interesting but also ensure there’s constant progress.
The workouts are tough (split squats are the devil) but they are enjoyable and at the end of each workout you feel unreal. Outside of the workouts there is a weekly check in post on Facebook where you talk about how your week went and also send in a screenshot of an excel tracker given with the information at the start. This excel tracker just keeps you honest and accountable and is super helpful.
The big thing though is Larry is always available for questions whether it be on Facebook or Instagram. He always replies timely and will do all he can to help your query. Joining the affiliate programme was one of the best decisions of my life. All the tips and knowledge I’ve gained from Larry I bring into not only my life but the lives of the people around me and the positive changes they’ve all made from these small things have been life changing for them.

I really cannot recommend Larry highly enough as he is an absolute knowledge bomb and is a true professional in his field.
I am so grateful I was in such good hands for my first bikini competition. For me, a coach isn’t someone who sends you diet plans but is someone who supports and looks after you. I can honestly say Larry did just that and more. He has taught me how to eat to properly fuel my body and never once starved me! Larry kept a very close eye on me throughout and only made
tiny adjustments when necessary. Everything from the training and nutrition was tailored for my own personal needs and what worked best for me. There really is no one size fits all.
I was also never told to do hours of cardio which I was kind of afraid of, it was kept pretty tight for the most part, even as a 9-5 desk worker. Larry was literally there every step of the way.
He was able to answer any questions I had and was always just a text away if I needed him.

Literally only focusing on what I was seeing in the mirror. I was on really low calories and doing hours and hours of cardio. I was totally and utterly, fully absorbed and completely obsessed. I was seeing results (obviously). But I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t healthy. I had developed such a poor relationship with food. This lifestyle was having an impact on so many aspects of my life, my social life, my relationships, my relationship with myself and my relationship with food. Needless to say, following such a restrictive plan took its toll – I was no longer enjoying the process, enjoying my food or even appreciating my results. I felt like there had to be a better approach. Thats when I reached out to Larry.
Larry understood where I was coming from when I filled him in on what was going on. I signed up and got started. Larry maintained consistent contact while I was starting off. Offering encouragement, advice, guidance and support. The focus of check ins quickly shifted from focusing on weight and measurements, to the main priorities being general health and well being, water intake, digestion, activity, stress levels as well as enjoyment in and out of the gym. Reminding me of the much bigger picture. I soon got to learn the importance of the foundations.
***I am using the above word for lack of better term! There is certainly no ‘diet’ when working with Larry. No food groups cut out, no foods off limits. The food side of it is so person specific. I had been following a meal plan previously. Which included maybe… ten foods… The same foods, every meal, every day. I felt, personally, that this really had an impact on my relationship with foods. I used to LOVE cooking and baking. I used to really enjoy my food, I was such a foodie. Over that restrictive period I genuinely found myself becoming somewhat afraid of foods. Larry thought me how to count my macro nutrients and I can safely say I have never looked back. During the initial period with Larry he helped me work on my relationship with food. Teaching me and encouraging me, that no foods were bad. I soon learned how important nutrition was, how important it was to fuel our bodies. And soon after that I rekindled that love I had for food and cooking. Counting macros gave me freedom to cook/eat/enjoy whatever foods I felt like.
Now the most important thing I learned about diet with Larry was how to eat like an adult. How to fit in meals. How to actually fuel my body. How to enjoy a bit of whatever I liked. How to factor In whatever was going on in my life. How to eat out at social occasions, how to eat on the go in a busy lifestyle and how to manage when you get caught out. I now feel like I can comfortably stay on track whatever my lifestyle throws at me. Im not missing out, I’m managing things and being smart.
As I mentioned earlier, when I started with Larry I had just finished an intense low calorie, high output phase. My energy levels were diminished and my strength was in my boots. A couple of weeks in and my energy levels were through the roof. My cardio was probably about a quarter what it used to be – HOWEVER, it was so much smarter. It was genuine cardio, focusing on heart rate and effort. Previously I was just looking at getting X amount of time done on cardio equipment. Thats when I realised I really wasn’t as fit as I thought! I was struggling to reach my target heart rate for the given time.
Just last week I ran 8.5KM in a personal best time. Yesterday I was on the treadmill running and it just felt effortless – I couldn’t run fast enough to get my heart rate up into my heart rate zone! Such an opposite complaint to what I had starting off. My strength is also way up again, even beyond what it used to be. I am definitely the fittest and strongest I have ever been.
Over the past couple of years my resting heart rate had always been on the higher end of normal. Maybe late seventy’s, early eighties. As I started to progress with Larry, making little wins in every aspect – I really noticed this starting to drop. It settled into the sixties and I was delighted, felt amazing. Lately, I’ve noticed it dropping down as far as fifty four. This is not only fitness and health related, there are so many other attributing factors that I learned about along the way.
I have always had really poor gut health – I even have memories of it as a child. I had gotten used to it really and wasn’t taking any notice of it. Then I started with Larry and he immediately flagged it, highlighting it as a major priority. It needed to be sorted. As he said himself, I could be dieting all year round and doing excessive amounts of cardio – but when the foundations are off, you are swimming against the current. And it proved to be so true. I got medical advice and was put on a strict elimination diet. At the time I worried about how it would effect my work with Larry, or my progress. Needless to say it was not a problem. Larry was so supportive and a wealth of knowledge. The freedom of following a macro plan rather than a diet plan made it so possible. A year on and I don’t even know myself. I am now aware of what foods I need to avoid and why. In every check in Larry had focus on this aspect, because it was so specific to me. My plan was always tailored to suit me perfectly.
Without a shadow of a doubt I’ve a hectic lifestyle. I work a full time job, forty hours a week, chaotic work conditions and high stress levels. I do shift work. Go from nights to days as required. Ive always loved fitness and exercise, its always been my outlet. So I have to say, I’ve always made time for it. Training with Larry, I was definitely spending less time in the gym, because I was training so much smarter than before. Quality over quantity.
Larry is a big fan of stress management (I thought you were crazy when I started Lar, sorry lol). And I have to admit it took me awhile to see why. Larry was constantly encouraging me to do some ‘least mode’ every single day, preferably something outside the gym. I went with it (probably reluctantly at the start! Thinking I didn’t have time) I started factoring in short periods. Reading a few pages of a book. I downloaded the headspace app. Going for a light walk outside. I rated my stress on my tracker every day. I started to see patterns of when I was scoring my stress high, my weight would spike, my general health would suffer.
Larry encouraged me to not take on too much. Less can be more. When my work schedule was hectic, or my shifts changed to nights, the first protocol was to pull back. Pull back from intense training. Increase least mode. Listen to my body, be kind to myself. I would have always just ploughed on and burnt myself out. But when I took a step back I soon came to realise that my results were so much more consistent and sustainable.
It took me awhile to realise, but the likes of stress, mindset, lifestyle, water, digestion and general day to day activity – the foundations – are nearly more important than the training and the calories. You can’t build a house without foundations. Put in the ground work, give yourself the time, invest in yourself and you will reap the rewards. There is no need for hours upon hours in the gym, low calories, or any of the other mad measures. I spent years following the above and in one year training with Larry I’ve learned more, had better returns in every department and best of all discovered to manage it all.

I wanted a program that will have me focused with my workouts, going into the small gym, move weights and get out.
The programs were fun, challenging (to the point of swearing Larry a few times… Sorry-not sorry) and had me feeling challenged by the end.

I cannot recommend the Affiliate enough – to anyone, from beginners looking to create habits, to more advanced trainees looking to dial in their training and get some focus.

After my 20 week cut that still had me eating every single day, I started into a maintenance/lean gain phase and chatted to Larry about my photoshoot goals and we made a plan. At 12 weeks out I switched to 1.1 coaching for the purpose of the photoshoot. There was no such thing as meal plans and this was one of the main reasons I chose Larry as I knew myself anything too restrictive would send me down a path I didn’t wish to revisit. Larry was also very clear from the word go that he would get me in shoot shape but wouldn’t do anything to compromise my health in the process for the sake of losing an extra lb or two.
My food didn’t really change at all in the lead up to the shoot, the quantity just got smaller. I was still having the likes of shepards pie and chicken and pasta bake the week before and of course my purple snack and kinder There was also no excessive cardio. 10/12 weeks were completed with only resistance bands and a 20kg bodypump bar with the roads being my own source of cardio due to gym closures.
In making my weekly plan of action, Larry was very conscious of what I had on that week, work commitments, GAA training and matches, horse riding etc and make sure I was prioritising sleep, stress management, nutrition etc. He was also very good at talking me down from the “I won’t be lean enough” ledge when I was ready to throw the toys out of the pram
The photoshoot experience has been immensely educational and I have learned so much about myself.
And for the first-time last January I didn’t diet. I actually did the opposite and started increasing calories and put a lot of focus into my training ( & recovery) with the aim of increasing lean muscle.
Early Last year I went through an improvement phase- spending less time dieting, more time on higher calories and put my main focus on getting my body in a better position for the next time I dieted because by the end of the year previous I was running on empty!
If there’s one thing Larry has thought me it’s that there’s more to changing your body than dieting alone. There’s phases, reasons for each & each of those phases should complement the next. So, I trusted him 100% when he suggested we do a lean gain phase.

I got really strong and also had lots of flexibility with my diet which I definitely feel helped my relationship with food. I still ate well, fuelled training properly & focused on the basics to ensure recovery, digestion, energy & sleep were being supported.
I do well with being uncomfortable on low calories and high out put but this time I had to learn instead to get uncomfortable with seeing the scales going in the opposite direction, feeling a bit heavier, having to eat more food & not fitting as well into my clothes. And during that time Larry’s advice & reassurance each week and guidance from start to finish helped no end.
Those 18 weeks were short term but they definitely had long term benefits. The first being my next dieting phase was made far easier, I was in a better position to start & I was much more adherent to calories even when they got low. Without the physical and mental stress early in the year I was in a great position to get to where I wanted to be.
Then when my dieting phase was over I was able to maintain weight later in the year on higher calories which is something I also put effort into doing”.

Larry has an unmatched ability to draw motivation and to instil belief.
This man has an undying love for what he does and the strongest self-imposed duty of care for his clients. With his help I managed to pull back 19kg/41lbs to achieve a stage-ready physique and in the process find my true passion – It is safe to say that without Larry’s guidance I would not have achieved what I did and I would not have found something I truly love.

I must add this was all done on a vegan diet (vegan since 15). I am not someone who pushes veganism, I only mention this for those who think it’s impossible to gain muscle, lose fat and run marathons on a vegan diet. It just takes a bit of research and willingness to learn a new way and I’d be lying if I said proving the people who said it’s impossible wrong, wasn’t a small driving force in this journey!.

I’m 6kgs down so far and still going….
The Affiliate has been really good so far. I started in February at 104 kg, now down to 98 kg, so moving in the right direction. I can really notice the change in my body shape in comparison to my start out pictures.

The mindset change has been such a game changer. I am the WORST for thinking I missed a workout ok may as well just just start next week.
